Exceptional Large Antique French Fine Gilded Dore Bronze and Porcelain Palais Royal Casket with Original Ornate Key.
This Jewellery Casket is Richly Ornamented with Round Hand Painted Porcelain Plaques Depicting the Muses of Music, Song, Dance and Love and Surrounded with Small Ormolu Pearls.
Each Roundel is Framed with Dore Bronze Cherubs and Garlands of Flowers.
The Lid is Decorated with a Central Scene Featuring the Goddess Ourania (Urania) also Surrounded by Dancing Cherubs Holding Flowering Garlands and Flowers.
In the Classical era, when the Muses were Assigned Specific Artistic and Literary Spheres, Ourania was Named Muse of Astronomy and Astronomical Writings.
In this Guise She was Depicted with a Celestial Globe and Compass.
She was also One of the Nine Muses is Often Associated with Universal Love.
The Corners of the Casket are Embellished with Foliage and Floral Motis on Ball Feet which Reflects a Rocaille (Rococo) Influence.
